SCOTTSDALE, AZ (October 8, 2007) –
Hualapai owned and operated Grand Canyon Resort Corporation (GCRC) was honored on October 2, 2007 for its significant contributions to Arizona’s growth and economy at the 2nd Annual Economic Engines of Arizona Awards reception, sponsored by Arizona Business Magazine, at The Ritz-Carlton, Phoenix.
“The Northwest Arizona economy has surged since the grand opening of the Skywalk and employment has more than tripled in the area,” said Josh Schimmels, Vice President of Business Development at Arizona Business Magazine. “The relatively remote region of the state has received an influx of visitors that have contributed to an increase in commerce in Kingman, Meadview, Dolan Springs and Flagstaff. Businesses as far south as Phoenix, such as Sky Harbor International Airport and auto rental companies, are also reaping the rewards,” he continued.
GCRC received the award in the “places” category and focused on Grand Canyon West and the opening of Grand Canyon Skywalk. Sheri Yellowhawk, CEO of GCRC, accepted the award on behalf of the Hualapai Nation.
