ABC NEWS' “Good Morning America” Aired LIVE From The Grand Canyon Skywalk
GRAND CANYON WEST, AZ (May 8, 2008) –
Grand Canyon West was recognized by the ABC News' “Good Morning America” (GMA) as one of the “7 Wonders of America.” To announce the selection of the Grand Canyon as one of the seven “wonders,” GMA aired a LIVE segment on May 7, 2008 from on the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The morning's live reports were anchored by "GMA" news anchor Chris Cuomo. The segments broadcast across the United States on ABC to approximately 5 million viewers. The segment highlighted the culture of the Hualapai, the Native American tribe that owns Grand Canyon West, and featured the spectacular views of the Canyon seen at Grand Canyon West’s multiple viewpoints.
The “wonders” were determined by a panel of five esteemed experts - travel writers, a historian and an astrophysict. The seven winning locations were derived from over 50 candidates, all which were amazing manmade and natural attractions scattered throughout the United States. Through days of deliberation, all panelists agreed on the top seven “Must See” locations that were the most photogenic, unforgettable and breathtaking. The “wonders” were revealed one day at a time starting with segments starting on May 5, 2008.
